This home is COMPLETELY unrecognizable after a gorgeous remodel.

The kitchen in this 1926 Craftsman bungalow needed updating, and the result is a modern space that also complements that period of style.

If ever there were a place where pattern-on-pattern…on-pattern were a design mandate, Justina Blakeney would surely be the high ruler. Her blog, The Jungalow, celebrates cozy, plant-filled homes exploding with charisma, and showcases the designer’s array of lust-worthy wallpapers, fabrics, stationery and furniture.

Two roommates enlisted designer Ahmad Abouzanat to help them design this Chelsea rental apartment's shared spaces and the bedrooms.

The place was previously a rental and had beige walls, ugly wood kitchen cabinets, and Formica countertops... the remodel makes the place feel more updated while also maximizing storage and without breaking the bank.

Traditional and modern pieces are placed side-by-side in an unexpected meeting of styles in this adobe-style house.

The reflective qualities make a small space feel much brighter and larger!

This 1920s house's kitchen was old, but not in a charming way. The floor was dirty linoleum, the counters had gross tile and grout, the sink was chipped, and the lighting was ugly fluorescent!

It features furniture from Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie, a pretty pale pink wallpaper mural, and the cutest shell-shaped pillows.

Though only a small space—just 117 square feet—this former odd basement level room is now a lovely lounge room that can double as a guest room thanks to sleeper sofa.

And they were able to salvage some of the elements of the renovation in the new design.

Occupied by a family of three, this house’s kitchen before featured black cabinets, a plain stone-colored backsplash, and a more closed-in layout.

Name: Stacy and Ben Location: San Diego, California Size: 2,930 square feet Years lived in: 1.5 years, owned It was the enviable views of the ocean and quirky mid-century details that appealed to Ben and Stacy when they bought this house, which hadn’t been renovated since it was built in 1958. Located in a bohemian beachside community in San Diego, the couple was expanding their family and looking for a place to settle where growing kids would feel comfortable for many years to come.

Project by: Maureen Stevens Design Location: Downtown Austin, Texas This is a professionally-designed space by Austin-based Maureen Stevens Design—but it’s also a stylish example of one of the more interesting trends in interiors: Minimal maximalism. The designer describes the home in this way: “This space is the ultimate blend of Southwestern style and modern bohemian flair—perfect for hosting friends during a fun-filled weekend downtown.

Name: Stephanie Michaan Location: West Village NYC Size: 1,495 square feet Years lived in: Owned 6 years Though Stephanie has owned this apartment in New York’s West Village for six years, she says it feels brand new thanks to a recent redesign she gave the home. White walls maximize the beautiful bright natural light that pours in from big windows. Sparse furnishings are kept interesting by choosing good designs in rich materials.

Project by: Filipe Battazza and Raoni Mariano of Fábrica Arquitetos Location: São Paulo, Brazil This professional project is one of those amazing examples of how you can do so much with so little when you harness the power of design. Engineered by architects, using a lot of sleek materials, this exact renovation might be out of reach for some, but it’s still filled with tons of ideas you can steal to make a small home work (and look) so much better.

Working with her clients she was able to create a chic space that mixes new pieces with old favorites. Gaurav and Vidhita Kharkar created a space that is modern and sophisticated but exudes a welcoming warmth. From Gaurav and Vidhita: This three bedroom, sea-facing apartment is home to a family of six. Spread over 2,000 square feet across two levels, the residence exudes warmth and liveliness.
