Once upon a time there used to be a fairly definitive line between what a person should buy and what was possible to DIY. This is not the case any longer. Thanks in part to the maker movement growing to epic proportions over the last decade, and the buzzing blogosphere that churns out jaw-dropping tutorials at record speed, our collective confidence and relative body of DIY knowledge is out of sight. The things a single person can create and make to look as if they recently graced the retail sales floor are mind boggling. These six projects take DIY to a whole new level and I, for one, could not be more excited.

Ashley crafted this beautiful bed as part of a guest room overhaul, and I’m fairly certain her guests will adore her for it.

Kristin needed a new outdoor table when her former table bit the dust. I loved her previous table, but this one certainly takes the cake (I might be biased here).

Ana built this dining table and the benches entirely from leftovers 2×4’s and 2×6 tongue and groove she had after finishing her cabin. Those are some seriously good looking scraps.

Amy saw this table in a catalog and had to have it, but the price tag was singing a different tune. Naturally, she made her own for under $50 and gets to enjoy it that much more!

This beautiful build is simple and requires no previous woodworking knowledge which is always a bonus. If you aren’t a skilled builder, never fear, this is a great beginner project!

Chelsea needed the perfect nightstands for her bedroom… pretty sure she nailed it!
