Costco has some of the best food around. From their rotisserie chicken to their pre-seasoned salmon, to their ice cream and hot dogs, their frozen food selection, and so much more, they’ve got a great setup. You can spend your entire day taste testing food in Costco and be happy. Now the chain is jumping right onto the healthy bandwagon. Chances are, you’ve heard of acai bowls. It is 2018 after all.

Whole Foods is becoming even more of a one stop shop. The organic grocery chain has opened a lifestyle boutique inside one of its New Jersey locations—and might be a test for additional stores. Dubbed Plant & Plate, the store within a store concept opened at the Bridgewater location in March, according to Popsugar.

Amazon is going for grocery domination. The company announced Friday morning that they plan to buy Whole Foods in a deal worth $13.7 billion. The deal is expected to go through in the second half of 2017. The story is still developing but CNBC is reporting that according to a statement from Amazon, Whole Foods’ CEO John Mackey will remain on as the leader of the Austin, Texas based grocery chain, and that all of its locations will continue to operate under the Whole Foods name.

Fair warning: I might just be the worst possible person to write this article. As a passionate foodie and annoying “healthy person”, I spend a good amount of my monthly budget on food. Whether it’s fresh produce or artisanal tofu, grocery shopping is one area where I don’t like to deprive myself.
