My landlords live above me, but they don’t rent the third apartment out because they like it quiet. I feel like I’ve really lucked out here—the location is great, there’s a huge yard, I have parking and yes, it is really quiet! It is about 750 sq. ft. and has a nice layout with a central hallway and both front and back doors.

Well, prepare the defibrillator because Vanessa and her boyfriend Charlie have outdone themselves once again with their Highland Park shop and workspace, Honeywood.

Name: David Del Fonzo Location: Downtown; Los Angeles, CA Size: 750 square feet Years lived in: 1 month; Rented David’s spacious Downtown LA studio epitomizes the ideal bachelor pad. Sturdy, industrial materials are combined with plush fabrics and personal accents from David’s childhood to create a handsome and inviting space with a healthy dose of personality. In just 1 month, David has turned a stark, cavernous studio into a functional and cozy living space.

Name: Kristen Pumphrey and Thomas Neuberger of P.F. Candle Co. Location:Arts District; Downtown Los Angeles, California Size: 1,700 square feet Years lived in: 1 year; Rent Kristen and Thomas, owners of P.F. Candle Co, began their operation, grass-roots-style, out of this downtown LA loft. Several employees, large shipments, and making the candles requires ample space, so they are lucky enough to have this amazing production space, plus an additional office that doubles as a showroom.

Having spent a lot of time in Sweden as a child, I have developed a strong affinity for nordic design. The winner of HGTV Design Star won America over with her beautiful designs, and her cheerful, infectious personality. Now on OWN’s Home Made Simple, this design star is making everyone’s home a little happier with her signature colorful and exuberant style.

Name: Scott Location: Mar Vista – Los Angeles, California Howdy. We have recently finished remodeling a 2bed/1bath into a 2bed/2bath. We live in the upper apartment of a duplex we own. We love Mar Vista because it is close enough to Venice to have access to the beach lifestyle without the tourists and craziness. Our farmers’ market is the best in the area and at the end of the street. We travel a lot and will eventually rent the place out, so we decided to stay neutral in color.

Her eclectic Echo Park home, which houses a diverse collection of art, reflects her fun-loving attitude and warm personality.

Name: Paul Location: Long Beach, CA My wife and I have been living in lofts since 2005, and bought this loft in 2007. as an artist, it was always really important to me to have my work space in the home, so lofts have been ideal. Our home is in the Temple Lofts, which is a converted Masonic Temple from 1926. our unit is one of the largest in the building at 2322sqft and features original brick work throughout the house.

Name: Derrick Johnson Location: Downtown, Los Angeles, California How did I end up in Downtown Los Angeles? It was all by chance while meeting a friend for lunch. We saw a sign that said loft tours and this loft was the first and last loft on that tour. I instantly fell in love. Its openness, natural light and historical details are the reasons why, five years later, I’m still proud to call Downtown Los Angeles my home.

Chris grew up in Papua New Guinea and is a talented woodworker and chef and Amber is a fashion rep who grew up in SoCal.

Name: Scott Diorio and his dog, Scrappy Location: Silver Lake- Los Angeles, California Size: 595 square feet Years lived in: 6 years; Rented As a native of Southern California, Scott grew up on a “steady diet” of skate and surf culture, with the beach, native elements and Latin culture in the mix. These are the aesthetics that play a huge role in the evolution of his apartment.

Name: Scott Jarrell and Kristan Cunningham, owners of Hammer + Spear Location: Downtown Arts District; Los Angeles, California Size: 3,500 square feet Years lived in: 4 years; Rented Kristan and Scott’s showroom Hammer + Spear has been a fixture of the DTLA Artist District for the past year. Their store is perfectly edited and styled with unpretentious perfection, so it’s no surprise that their home is a wonderful mixture of smart DIY solutions and collected vintage charms.

Name: Jenn Deese Location: Pico/Robertson Area, Los Angeles, California I live in a large one bedroom apartment (about 900 square feet) in Los Angeles’ Pico/Robertson area. I’ve been here for about a year, and my apartment has been ever evolving since I got here! One amazing feature of my apartment is the fact that I’ve got an incredible amount of natural light that comes in through big bay windows in the front of the apartment.

Name: Baiyina Hughley Location: Miracle Mile, Los Angeles, California I live in an 800 square foot 1930s apartment in Miracle Mile in Los Angeles. I love how sunny the space is, the great views and the sound of birds chirping and lawns being mowed — it’s my own private oasis of calm in the city. My style is elegant eclectic minimalism, influenced by a long-time passion of flea market shopping yet refined by ability to finally restrain myself from impulse buying.

Location: Los Angeles, California Size: 1,130 square feet (house) + 350 square feet (detached garage) on 5,700 square foot lot Years lived in: 7 years Husband and wife architects Chris and Peggy founded a firm together, and they also collaborated on the remodel of their Los Angeles home.

Name: Kathrin Smirke and Brian Smirke Location: Joshua Tree, California Size: 1,000 square feet Years lived in: A little over 1 year (part-time) Kathrin and Brian put an ad on Craigslist looking for a cabin in Joshua Tree. They were so surprised when they received an e-mail from someone with a geodesic dome in the desert. Before the dome was even put on the market, Kathrin and Brian were in escrow to buy it. They often say it was fate; the dome found them!

Location: Beachwood Canyon, Los Angeles, California Size: 2,700 square feet Years lived in: 6.5 years; Owned When Lori and John hired Tamara of House of Honey to come redecorate their newborn’s nursery, the inspiration and desire to redo spread quickly throughout the entire home.

Name: Mark Cutler Design Inc. Location: West Hollywood, California Size: Two floor town house Years worked in: 12 years; Rented Mark Cutler has been designing interior and architectural spaces for years, making his name with residential designs for celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Steve Carrell. He’s a familiar figure on shelter magazines and HGTV, and his newest venture nousDECOR.com launched earlier this month.

Name: Christopher Rodriguez, Entertainment Attorney, and Damian Pelliccione, Host/Producer/Event Coordinator, New Media Vault & Boys in Tech Location: Echo Park; Los Angeles, California Size: 1,350 square feet Years lived in: 1 1/2 years Chris and Damian had been living in a loft and wanted to move into a house, so they purchased this small home as a fixer-upper.

Name: Gallerist Anthony Cran and fashion stylist Naomi Wilding, owners of Wilding Cran Gallery Location: West Adams; Los Angeles, California Size: 1,400 square feet Years lived in: 5 years It’s no surprise that Naomi Wilding and Anthony Cran have so much style, considering that Naomi’s grandmother is Elizabeth Taylor and Anthony’s father is a prolific painter. Anthony’s father, Chris Cran, has his work represented at the Wilding Cran Gallery.

Name: John Conneely, general contractor/owner of California Modern, and Erin Sheehan Location: Eagle Rock; Los Angeles, California Size: 1,100 square feet Years lived in: 3 1/2 years John immediately fell in love with this Eagle Rock Mid-Century house, and during its remodel he found a letter in the wall saying that the house was built with lots of love. He felt that good energy when he first walked into the house. Erin knew John for over a year before she saw his home.

Name: Ax + Apple / Founder Jamie Lyn Location: Downtown; Los Angeles, California Size: 800 square feet Years worked in: 1.5 years; rented Blue velvet tufted couch, Barcelona chair, tools and trinkets, a shrine to Rihanna and a fabulous disco ball… feast your eyes on the incredible downtown Los Angeles workspace of Ax + Apple, owned by jewelry designer Jamie Lyn.

Name: Jamie Lyn, Founder of AX + APPLE (and her cat George Michael) Location: Los Feliz — Los Angeles, California Size: 600 square feet Years lived in: 1.5 years; Rented After her jewelry line AX + APPLE began to take off from Austin Texas, Jamie decided it was time to relocate to the West Coast. Lucky enough to score a gorgeous one bedroom Spanish style courtyard apartment, Jamie is enjoying Los Angeles and all its charms.

Name: Robert Harbour Location: Eagle Rock; Los Angeles, California Size: 1,500 square feet Years lived in: Less than 6 months You may remember Robert’s previous home from his house tour 2 years ago. He emailed me a few months ago, saying he purchased a beautiful new midcentury home and was in the process of restoring it. Robert has used a handful of the same furnishings in his new place, while making a few new purchases.

Name: Jason Stein – Senior Specialist, Design at Paddle8 Location: Highland Park; Los Angeles, California Size: 972 square feet Years lived in: 4 years Jason was a first time home buyer and was just not finding a house that really spoke to him. When he told his realtor to expand his East Los Angeles search to Highland Park, they discovered this Spanish house up in the hills. It’s Jason’s perfect combination of cozy and modern.

It is always fun to see how a space has evolved over time, and Matthew’s loft is no exception. He has created a home all his own and let his imagination run wild.

Name: Kelly Stewart Location: Rampart Village; Los Angeles, California Size: 400 square feet Years lived in: 1 years; rent Kelly lives in a quaint stylish studio apartment in Rampart Village, where she has indulged her interior design know how. Taking note of all she’s learned working along side various designers mixing that with her own personal aesthetic, she has created a wonderful place to call home. It’s pretty awesome what Kelly was able to accomplish in 400 square feet.

Peggy moved from Paris, so of course there is also a European vibe happening as well.

The latest is the worksplace of Underwood Press + Flipbooth. I was amazed that there was an old school traditional letter press machine and much more, decorating this small office.

Name: Bridgid Coulter Location: My Design Studio/Showroom, 1419 5th Street, Santa Monica, California, 90401 Size: Entire Space: 900 square feet; Textiles Showroom: approx 450 square feet Years occupied: Since 2009 Bridgid Coulter is not just an interior designer and textile designer — she has also opened a showroom in Santa Monica offering home decor, vintage finds and design services.

Name: Jeanetta Gonzales + Brian Saldivar Location: The Unique Space, in Downtown LA Size: 180 square feet Years lived in: 2 months While poking around Instagram, I discovered Jeanetta and fell in love with her new office. To my delight, it turned out that she shared the space with Brian, inside the incredible new Unique Space in DTLA. This is my third tour of interiors inside the Unique Space, and I have to say— they are quite unique.

Name: Jonathan Paul Location: Santa Monica, California Size: 650 square feet Years lived in: 1 year; rented Jonathan, a recent California transplant, is enjoying a home that offers him the opposite of what he grew up with on the East Coast. Taking full advantage of a kitchen large enough to double as a workspace, he added incredible built-ins and is making full use of all the spacious storage. Another luxury he now enjoys is a front yard, where he is embracing his green thumb.

Name: Erik Perez, Senior Director at HL Group, and Paul Hardoin, Associate Director at Ernst & Young Location: Los Feliz, Los Angeles, CA Size: 2,800 square feet Years lived in: 3 years; Owned I often joke with Erik that, given his smoldering looks, he could’ve been a film star during the silent era. So I wasn’t surprised when he posted a photo on his Instagram of an actor from the twenties to whom he bore striking resemblance.

Set atop a quiet hillside, Erin and Nathan have lovingly crafted a home that reflects their creative and hardworking personalities.

Name: Whitney Leigh Morris, Graphic Designer, and Adam Winkleman Location: Canals, Venice Beach, California Size: 362 square feet (interior) Years lived in: 2.5 years; Rented Etc: Built in 1924. One of two original craftsman-style cottages on the lot. You may remember this beautifully renovated cottage from Whitney’s House Call. I was brought in to do a full tour of their space, and I was certainly not disappointed. Whitney and Adam have made living in a small space look like a breeze.

Name: Drew Fuller, actor, and Ceara McAuliffe, of Middle Sister General Vintage Location: Hollywood Hills; Los Angeles, California Size: 950 square feet Years lived in: 1 1/2 years Drew grew up at the beach in Orange Country and Ceara was raised in Venice, so they wanted their Hollywood Hills home design to have a connection to the coastal lifestyle.

Name: Whitney Location: Venice Beach, California Our 450 square-foot live/work Canal Cottage was built in the 1920’s. It was renovated a decade ago with several built-in features, including a queen bed, spacious couch and numerous storage cubbies. It’s a delightfully unique mini-home & yard that we’ve decorated & upgraded on an extremely limited budget. We (and our rescued beagle-foxhound mix) have called this home for 2.

Name: Ara Katz and Chris Ovitz Location: Abbot Kinney Boulevard; Venice, California Size: 1,700 square feet Years lived in: 1 1/2 years Ara and Chris decided to move in together and looked endlessly for a loft, but couldn’t find the right space. They kept coming back to a loft building on Abbot Kinney as the model for their dream home, but every unit was already occupied. Ara constantly kept her eye on the building and after a long wait, a unit was finally available.

Name: Chris Sewell + Kenny Osehan // Ojai Rancho Inn Location: Ojai, California Size: 18 Rooms + Swimming Pool and Sauna Years lived in: New ownership as of June 12th, 2012 The last time I visited Chris and Kenny was when I photographed their old apartment in Downtown Santa Barbara for their first House Tour. At the time they were running the Presidio Motel on State Street, as well as the Agave Inn.

Name: Lori LaMont and Monte Weiss Location: Belmont Heights – Long Beach, California Size: 1,400 square feet Years lived in: 2 years; Own Lori and Monte live on the top floor of the duplex building that they own. Just mere blocks from the beach, they enjoy an incredibly sunny and well decorated home. Their gorgeous flat is layered with Lori’s paintings, modern fixtures and vintage pieces.

Name: MULU, with Doris Steere (Art Director + Designer)Location: Hollywood — Los Angeles, CaliforniaSize: 3,000 square feetYears lived in: 3 months Mulu is a tech startup, founded by Amaryllis Fox, that powers on-page shopping for publishers like Hearst, Conde Nast, Huffington Post, and Martha Stewart. Mulu’s first year of business was spent in a shared community space, which confirmed their need for a larger office to call their own.

Name: Jeannie Mai and Freddy Harteis Location: Los Angeles, California Size: 2,400 square feet Years lived in: 1 year; Owned You may recognize this lovely lady from “How Do I Look” on The Style Network, or from her new shows “Style Pop” or “The Real.” Jeannie Mai has a fun spunky spirit and a distinct bold style. She is married to Freddy Harteis, who is also in the entertainment industry and has a show called “The Hollywood Hunter.

They found a new home with a great floor plan with a logical flow, located on a quiet tree lined street.
