Design Lessons: How To Spot (& Fix!) an Off Balance Room
Balance is a tricky beast when it comes to interior design. Some people love perfectly symmetrical spaces, and others are utterly bored by them. Wherever you fall, you’ve got to admit that a balanced space — in terms of color, visual weight, pattern and layout — is perfectly pleasing to the eye. But knowing how to get there takes trial and error. For some examples, I’ve rounded up a few spaces that with a tweak or two, could be perfectly in balance.

This Week: The Best Furniture Finds Under $50
There are a handful of things for your home you should not skimp on if you can help it. The three bedroom home was built in 2015, and, thanks to the greenhouse insulation, solar panels, and technology, is quite energy efficient.

What Can You Take From a Hotel Room? Leave the Towels, Take the Conditioner
Growing up, my dad was a firm believer of that if you were paying for a hotel room, you were entitled to take a few towels for the road. Turns out, dad laws aren’t real laws and stealing towels from a hotel room is not only frowned upon, it is technically illegal. So what is fair game? Hotels actually want you to take toiletries—they’re not going to re-use them and it’s a good way to spread the brand around. Everything else, though, is strictly off limits.
