Did you hear? IKEA reissued the popular Frosta stool, available again in the U.S. starting February 1st. Which means it’s time to resurrect our favorite hacks and paint jobs for this beloved and now-classic piece of budget-friendly furniture. While the new versions will be in pastel instead of plain birch, there’s still plenty of work to do to make them your own. Here’s inspiration and some ideas from over the years…. Wicker furniture might seem like an invention of the Victorian era, but that’s just when it hit the English and American markets. In fact, wicker is one of the oldest methods of making furniture, common all over the world for thousands of years. But wait, I’ll bet you’re wondering what wicker is exactly, am I right? So let’s define our terms, and take a quick look at the history of wicker.

It is easy to dismiss the 1970s as “the decade that taste forgot”. But to do so would be to overlook the decade’s contributions in architecture, furniture design and interior decorating. After all, with the Bad and the Ugly there is usually some Good.

That’s me. And that’s my credenza. which probably weighs in somewhere around 300 pounds, maybe more. I’m not kidding — it’s a monster. And I weigh about 105 wet.
