After renovating one space they were able to purchase the apartment next door and expand. The unexpected lime green accents give the space a bright and modern feel, while the exposed brick and copious light keep it feeling warm and welcoming. From Koray: Büro renovated a 750-square-foot apartment three years ago which won the 2013 Best of the Year Award.

A lot of tiny houses look a bit like little dollhouses on wheels—peaked roof, petite double-hung windows, a tiny, almost vestigial porch. While these homes are, admittedly, adorable, it’s always nice to see something a little different. Like the Alpha Tiny House, whose designers embraced a more modern aesthetic—and a seamless connection between indoors and out.

This summer, when VH1 announced that domestic diva Martha Stewart and rap icon Snoop Dogg were teaming up for a cooking show, we first thought it was a joke, and then quickly had a lot of questions. E-marketplaces can be competitive for both sellers and shoppers, but the good news is there are more resources than ever for getting into the re-commerce game, and each has its own special twist to offer users.

Our caveman ancestors, presumably, solved this problem by having beds that rolled up when not in use: more recently, designers of so-called “tiny houses” have gotten around this by lofting beds up high, with living space below.

Want to buy a home but having trouble saving up a 20% down payment? You could theoretically try bailing on your buddy’s upcoming bachelor party. Zillow recently crunched some numbers to find that attending a string of destination bachelor parties in your 20s and 30s can add up — to a full third of a down payment on a typical home. Bachelor party attendees reported spending an average of $738 apiece, according to survey data from wedding website The Knot.

When I make pie, I use my grandmother’s pastry blender and rolling pin, but one thing she did not pass down was her cast iron skillet slick with a history of family feasts. Instead, I received my cast iron pan five years ago—a new Lodge pan, fresh with the factory seasoning. Even with a factory fresh seasoning, the surface never felt smooth; it always had a pebbly texture. I’ve worked with enough cast iron pans that I knew the pan was supposed to be slick enough to fry an egg.
