Move Over, Amazon: This Furniture Startup Is Offering Same Day Delivery
If you’ve found that the once electric thrill of same-day grocery delivery has dissipated, have we got good news for you. Furniture company Floyd is offering same day delivery on an assortment of furniture in New York City, helping you get your speedy delivery kicks once again.
The Detroit based startup launched its same day delivery service in January and will expand the offering to San Francisco in April and Los Angeles later this year. “The bar is pretty low with furniture,” says Floyd cofounder Kyle Hoff told Fast Company. “We saw [same-day delivery] as a real differentiator, changing how people buy furniture.”
From the get go, Floyd focused on urban apartment dwellers, offering furniture that is flat packed directly to everyone’s door (or package room) and easy to assemble and move. Currently, NYC/Brooklyn based folks place their orders before 4pm they can get the furniture delivered to their door that day.
The company is able to offer such a quick turn around by keeping storage facilities in the cities where they offer the services. Because they only offer three products that are flat-packed, paying New York/SF/LA prices for storage isn’t as crazy costly as it would be for companies that offer more products. They’ve also hired out the actual delivering to startup Darkstore.
The pieces are simple, clean and modern, and oh boy a table that you can build without any tools (either full size or frustratingly tiny) is super appealing. You can check out their wares here.
