With all the attention that hemp and CBD are getting in the beauty and health industries, it makes sense that the trend would come to the home sphere, too. Ever since it became legal to grow hemp in the U.S. a few years ago, the plant (which is in the same family as marijuana but contains little to no THC) has quickly grown in popularity. Hemp fibers are an eco-friendly alternative to other materials like cotton, and environmentally-conscious retailers are taking notice—including West Elm, which just launched its first hemp bedding collection today.

So what’s so great about hemp? The main draw is its sustainability. Hemp is a weed, so it needs little water to grow and doesn’t require pesticides. It absorbs carbon dioxide and grows at a fast rate, plus every part of the hemp plant can be used for something. It’s also incredibly durable (and breathable!), so bedding and clothing made from hemp tends to last longer than their cotton counterparts.

West Elm’s hemp bedding collection includes includes duvets, sheets, and a coverlet, ranging from $229-$299 for bed sizes Full to California King. Though hemp takes on the feeling of linen in its natural form, West Elm chose to blend hemp with organic cotton for a softer feel, and uses natural plant dyes to create the muted colorways. The entire collection is Fair Trade Certified.

Interested in hemp bedding? You’re in luck, because all of West Elm’s bedding (including the new hemp collection) is 25 percent off right now. That includes everything from the editor-favorite linen sheets, organic cotton duvet covers, and cozy bed blankets. We highlighted some of the best picks from the hemp collection below, but be sure to check out all the bedding here before the sale ends.
