You Can Buy the ‘Stranger Things’ Creel House for $1.5 Million
“Stranger Things” Season 4 introduced fans to the Creel House, a spooky Victorian-style mansion with a dark supernatural past. And now, this real-life home located in Rome, Georgia can be yours, Vecna-free — if you’ve got $1.5 million lying around.
Built in 1882, the 140-year-old house once operated as a bed and breakfast called the Claremont House, according to a Zillow listing. The Claremont House closed in March of 2019, and was subsequently sold for $350,000 by unknown owners, who restored the six-bedroom, six-bathroom home to its current condition. The property also includes a Gothic-style guest house, which includes a sitting room, two or three bedrooms, a kitchen, and a renovated bathroom.
Although the house was transformed for Vecna’s spooky origin story in “Stranger Things,” many recognizable details from the show remain.
As the listing notes: “You will recognize much of what has been prominently featured in the show’s fourth season, including: the majestic formal dining room where telekinesis is no longer practiced during meals; an adjoining parlor, perfect for playing Dungeons and Dragons; and a living room ideal for hosting meetings of the Hellfire Club.”
Many of the house’s original, 19th century trappings also remain, including built-in bookcases, a custom buffet, layered moldings, an antique wall safe, and more. It also features a fully renovated kitchen with updated appliances, a 15-foot island, a black marble dining table, and a walk-in pantry.
If the “Stranger Things” factor is particularly appealing to you, you’ll be happy to know that the house is located less than five miles from the Ford Buildings at Berry College, which stood in as the series’ Pennhurst Mental Hospital in Season 4.
The “Creel House” is listed by the brokerage Toles, Temple & Wright. You can view the full listing and check out additional pictures of the home here.
